About Security Cisco

Fall 2005 - These courses are being revised during the Fall semester. MiraCosta will offer preparation for the following Security exams:

  • 642-501 Securing Cisco IOS Networks (SECUR), and
  • 642-521 Cisco Secure PIX Firewall Advanced (CSPFA)

Prerequisite

CCNA, or CIS 123 (semester 4 of the Academy program).
You should also be very, very familiar with IP addressing, subnetting, VLSM, and access lists. This is a very rigorous course with little time to retrace previous topics.

CIS 121-122, as well as CIS 124 would be excellent choices for refresher work prior to the Security curriculum. CIS 121 and CIS 124 also incorporate a significant amount or router hands-on labs if additional router work is needed prior to enrolling in Security.
