Driver Education

The best in North County!

To get your California driver’s license, there are two requirements if you are under 18 years of age:

  • Classroom Driver Education and
  • Behind-the-Wheel Driver Training

MIRACOSTA COLLEGE OFFERS BOTH!

Students must be 15 years old to enroll in both programs and      15 1/2 to participate in the Behind-the-Wheel Driver Training.

Package Deal - Fee $345

Sign up for both programs at the same time and pay $345. (La Costa Canyon location is $355)This is a $28 savings!  Individually, Classroom Driver Education is $88 and Behind-the-Wheel Driver Training is $285. 

PLEASE NOTE: (Package deal only applies to our six hour Behind-the-Wheel Driver Training program.  Package deal does not apply to on-line Driver Education)

Once you complete your on-line Driver Education class, you may call us to sign up for Behind-the-Wheel Driver Training for an additional fee of $285. 

Classroom Driver Education - Fee: $88

Certificated instructors interact with students, using guest speakers and contemporary audio/visual aids. Our program uses the brand new version of "License to Drive," including the text and videotapes.

Behind-the-Wheel Driver Training

SIX HOURS ONE-ON-ONE TRAINING - FEE: $285

  • Convenient after school, evening, and weekend times available.
  • Behind-the-Wheel Driver Training sessions meet at Carlsbad High School, El Camino High School, Rancho Buena Vista High School, La Costa Canyon High School, MiraCosta College Oceanside Campus, and MiraCosta College San Elijo Campus.
  • Students receive six hours of one-on-one Behind-the-Wheel Driver Training instruction.
  • Licensed professional and reliable instructors.
  • Satisfies all DMV and Department of Education license requirements.
  • Where to meet the Behind-the-Wheel driving instructor. 

How to Enroll

Pre-enrollment is required for both classroom Driver Education and the Behind-the-Wheel Driver Training program. Please call (760) 795-6825 or (760) 795-6820 for information or to request a registration packet. You are welcome to register over the phone with a Visa or MasterCard, download and mail the enrollment form (classroom only), register on-line (classes only), or come in person to the Community Services Office, Bldg. 1000, MiraCosta College Oceanside Campus.

Students taking advantage of our package deal will choose their dates for Behind-the-Wheel while taking classroom Driver Education. You must complete the Behind-the-Wheel Driver Training program phase of the program within one year of completing a classroom driver education session. Please check out our helpful links below.

Adult Driver Training - Fee $315

Must be 18 years of age and older. We offer six-hours of one-on-one professional instruction. The instructor will pick you up at your home. You must have a valid California Learners Permit to take the training. Please call (760) 795-6825 or (760) 795-6820 for further information and to register.
