Instructor notes: This is a hybrid class. PowerPoint lectures, videos, assigned readings and homework questions are done on-line each week at home. Plan to spend 3-6 hours on-line each week.
Mandatory labs will meet every Wednesday evening from 5-7:50 PM in room 7053.

The textbook is Stern's, "Introductory Plant Biology", 13th Edition. You are REQUIRED to purchase a McGraw Hill Connect code for the text.  This purchase is most easily made through the Home Page of the Course.  An e-book is automatically included when you purchase the CONNECT code from the publisher (@$85). The publisher will typically make an optional  printed, loose- leaf copy of the text available for a nominal fee (about $25) after you purchase the code.  THIS IS BY FAR the most cost effective way to buy the textbook.  You may also purchase the Connect code from the MiraCosta Bookstore or directly from McGraw Hill, but it is best to wait to make this purchase until just before the course begins.

The publisher also typically offers a "free trial period" of about 10-14 days.  If you use that option, you should wait until the first week of class so it does not expire before class starts.
Students will need to bring their textbooks or e-books, colored pencils, and "print at home" lab reports to just about every class.
Sometimes we work outdoors and do "hands-on" lab activities. Dress accordingly!
All tests will be done in the classroom on selected class meeting dates throughout the semester.
