Instructor notes:

This is a hybrid class. PowerPoints, assigned readings, practice tests and homework questions are done on-line each week. Plan to spend 2-6 hours at home to watch the PowerPoints, take practice quizzes, prepare your dried specimens and memorize scientific names.

Labs will meet every Friday afternoon 1:00 - 4:05 PM in room 7051.

Each week we will walk through the campus identifying @21 plants and collecting plant specimens. The specimens will be dried at home and added to a collection book that you will keep updated throughout the semester and turn in for a grade before final exams.

Plant Identification tests will be taken in the classroom every week after we study a new list. Multiple choice tests on plant information will be on selected dates throughout the semester.

The textbook is Sunset's, Western Garden Book, 9th Edition (2012). It is widely available and also comes as an e-version.
