Instructor notes:

This section is primarily an "online" section of Behavioral Statistics, that is best geared for online students who'd like a little extra support from a brief weekly class meeting.

Class time (1hr 15 min a week) is set aside specifically to work with the statistical software program (SPSS).  Learning the core concepts is left to the students to achieve through the online assignments (e.g., reading, videos, self-evaluations).

This hybrid section is geared to students with the necessary time management skills to succeed in a primarily online course environment.  Students considering this class must be comfortable learning much of the course material on their own, using the course workbook, recorded class lectures, video lecturettes, and handouts.  Students taking the course entirely online have great things to say about the course - they really like the format and number of resources available online to learn the course material.

Do not expect to what until the class meeting to learn the material... class time is specifically set aside for use with the SPSS software.  You will have great online resources for learning - take advantage of them throughout the semester.

Comments from a prior student:
To the students taking this course in the fall! I highly recommend doing the reading and the "test your understanding" sections in the workbook as they are assigned. The workbook is my most cherished study tool along with the videos. Another thing I do is take the self evaluations several times; usually until i get a perfect score on it 2 or 3 times in a row. That way, when I take the quiz, I have already seen the questions and know how to solve them leading to a perfect score on the quiz! Since this course is online, some may tend to push it to the side. DO NOT DO SO. This is a course that you must dedicate diligent focus and ample time to in order to get a desirable grade. Communicate with Professor Kelley and read his announcements!! Best of luck to you all.
