Fundamentals of Computer Information Systems

This course covers the concepts of information systems in business, including the integration of information systems, organizational strategy, systems analysis, data storage, data processing, security, cloud computing, and communications. The course applies information system concepts by developing solutions to business problems using financial analysis and database management tools, such as Microsoft Excel and Access. UC CREDIT LIMITATION: Credit for CSIT 110 or CSIT120. C-ID ITIS-120 and C-ID BUS-140.

Instructor notes:  This is a 16 week Fall 2017 course that will be taught entirely online. The class starts on Monday 8/21. All enrolled students will receive an email (sent to the email address on file in SURF) from me one week prior to the class start date. This email will include important class information. Book information may be found now in SURF.  Students must either purchase the hardcopy bundle ($131) -OR- the eBundle ($103) by the 2nd week of school.  Pearson provides a 2 week trial period.  Either bundle is available at bookstore and includes the required MyITLab access code.  Students may also purchase the eBundle from Pearson directly.  The cost for the eBundle at the bookstore is the same cost as the Pearson direct offering.  

Student materials:
1) Access to a reliable computer with broadband (Cable or DSL) or network access.  
2) Access to MS Office 2013.  Windows and MacOS students without MS Office 2013 can access via VMWare Horizon free of charge
3) Students will also need to have the ability to have microphone and speaker capability to conduct virtual collaboration sessions with other students.  Computers and microphones are available on campus.
