Office Systems and Procedures

This course provides the administrative skills and knowledge needed to be successful in the twenty-first century workplace environment of changing technology and procedures. Students simulate the daily tasks of an administrative assistant working for a multinational corporation's chief operating officer. Assignments include tasks using computer applications, office procedures, conflict resolution, time management, meeting and conference planning, office ethics, personal development and growth, office protocol, and other pertinent topics.

Welcome to BOT 116. This is Mercedes Strong.  This course provides students
with the opportunity to explore the procedures and practices used in the 21st
century office.  The goal of this course is to experience the job tasks and duties performed by administrative
support staff in all business environments. Here are some of the objectives:  

  • Understand the role of administrative, support personnel in a business environment.   
  •  Prioritize tasks to maximize efficiency and exhibit good time management skills.    
  • Complete tasks by following written instructions.  
  • Use computer software applications to produce business documents. 
  • Prepare meeting, travel, and training arrangements and documentation, 
  • Identify correct procedures for customer service. 
  • Practice decision-making skills.
