The 2009 Academy class has been selected.
The Actor’s Academy is a one-of-a-kind program that provides an intense and rewarding actor training experience. Modeled after national conservatories, MiraCosta’s Actor’s Academy offers college credit courses taught by acclaimed directors and professional actors.
Expect to be inspired, stretched and nurtured. Our standards are high; your days will be demanding and rigorous…but the results are immensely rewarding. You will discover a passion, a voice and a style you’ve earned for yourself through hard work, integrity and discipline.
MiraCosta’s Actor’s Academy is looking for those who will rise to this challenge and embrace this unique opportunity.

The 1940’s Radio Hour

Directed by Tracy Williams
Written by Carlsbad resident, Walton Jones, the 1940’s Radio Hour has captured the spirit of that era with Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, That Old Black Magic, Blue Moon and more. The seedy New Your radio station takes to the air at the beginning of World War II in a “live” broadcast for the troops overseas. Big band music, swing dancing, quirky characters and good old-fashioned fun make this a show you won’t want to miss.

The Tempest

Starring Jonathan McMurtry and directed by North Coast Repertory Theatre’s Artistic Director, David Ellenstein, The Tempest is a must see theatre event in the North County this year. This co-production with NCRT will feature a cast of seasoned professional actors mixed with top aspiring MiraCosta College students. Here is your chance to see one of the great Shakespearean actors lead the cast in a play of revenge, magic, humor and revelry.

Beau Jest

What's a Jewish girl to do when she's dating a gentile but wants to make her parents happy? Create a Jewish doctor boyfriend and hire an actor named Bob, to pretend to be her "beau" of course! Hilarity ensures as the masquerade tests Bob’s familiarity with “being Jewish” and brings about comic situations that no one could anticipate.

MiraCosta wins
Patte' Award for Electra

Theatre Professor, Eric Bishop, accepts the Patte'Award posing with host and critic, Pat Launer, for the MiraCosta production of Electra.
MiraCosta Theatre made its mark again in the San Diego Theatre community by distinguished itself with outstanding work and professionalism. Among the notable accomplishments:
- A Patte’ Award for Eric Bishop for “Outstanding Direction” for the production of Electra. He shared this award as part of a collaboration with his student cast and crew.
- Associate faculty members, Kristianne Kurner and Lisa Berger, also won a Patte’ Award for “Outstanding Direction." 3 of the night's 4 winners are on faculty at MiraCosta College.
- MiraCosta Alum, Joshua Everett Johnson (2002), won for the third consecutive year a San Diego Theatre Critics Circle Award for “ Featured Performance in a Play, Male.”
