About PAC
The mission of PAC is to ensure the integrity of the sabbatical leave process and support the professional development of colleagues by assisting colleagues in preparation of quality applications for sabbatical leave and sabbatical reports.
Functions
Act as resource to faculty in preparation of proposals and reports:
- mentor/advise faculty in the preparation of their proposals
- provide workshops as needed to assist faculty in the preparation of proposals and reports
Review applications for sabbatical leave:
- determine the feasibility of the proposed activity
- assess the contribution of the activity to the growth of the individual and to the district
- ensure that the proposed hours or study units meet the minimum required
- forward recommendations to Senate Council for action
- review requests for modifications of sabbatical leaves, and advise the President/President
Review sabbatical leave reports:
- verify that activities were completed as approved (or as modified)
- assist in editing reports as necessary to improve clarity
- forward recommendations to Senate Council for action
Review Sabbatical Leave Handbook
- maintain a manual of application and report procedures on sabbatical leaves
- review and revise procedures outlined in the sabbatical leave handbook
Any suggested changes to the contents of the handbook should be submitted to the Professional Advancement Committee by February 15 of any given year in order to be considered for inclusion for the following academic year.
