MiraCosta College Foundation Mini-Grant Program

Mini-Grant Guidelines

MiraCosta College Foundation Mission Statement:

To support MiraCosta College in transforming lives and enriching the region by harnessing the influence and philanthropic resources of the community.

“We make a difference to those we serve.”

Mini-Grant purpose:

The MiraCosta College Foundation announces year-tow of its mini-grant program. The aim of this program is to financially assist faculty and staff in their efforts to:

  • Improve access and support educational opportunities that encourage students to enhance their lives thus becoming assets to the community.
  • Develop community collaborations that promote an awareness of MiraCosta College and enhance the college’s reputation in the community, the state and the nation.
  • Support a professional development plan to which the applicant has committed his/her resources.
  • Encourage educational innovation.
  • Support the college's vision, mission, and core values.

Mini-Grant Amount: $500 to $5,000

Who can submit proposals?   Faculty, staff, and students with faculty/staff sponsorship and supervision may submit proposals.

Timeline:

  • September 2007. Call for grant proposals
  • Monday, October 1.  Deadline for proposal submittals
  • October 31.  Recommendations for proposals to be funded go to the Foundation Board
  • Mid- November.  Board reviews/approves winning grants.  Awardees notified.
  • December 15.  Grants awarded for a period of one year unless amended by petition.

Grant application questions: Maximum one (1) page for a narrative and one (1) page for a proposed budget. No longer than two (2) pages.

  • Purpose of the project
  • Population to be served
  • Goals and objectives
  • Activities planned
  • Proposed budget and budget rationale (Please include steps that may have been taken to secure funding from other sources.)
  • Self evaluation design
  • Planned follow up activities
