Martha Witz, Community Member
Martha’s best memories of MiraCosta College are from the writing classes she took. She wrote a book for her family titled “Step by Step” which also became a commercial success. She led the effort to get the San Elijo campus approved which introduced her to members of the MiraCosta College Foundation who invited her to join the board in the late 1980’s. She formed a team to produce the annual Foundation fundraiser that “brought the community together to see what the college was doing for students”. Martha has long been involved in politics and served as a district representative for George E. Brown, Jr. and later for Senator Alan Cranston. Martha’s husband Richard passed away in 2003. She has three children, Angela, a college administrator; William, an early childhood educator; and Thomas, a landscape designer, as well as three grandchildren.
