BIOGRAPHY OF GUEST SPEAKER, JAY GELDMACHER

Jay Geldmacher is Executive Vice President of Emerson and

President of Emerson Network Power’s Embedded Computing

and Power group of companies (six business units). Under

his leadership, the Embedded Computing and Power group

has grown from $300 million to $2 billion in size as one of

the world leaders of power conversion and computing products.

The company, headquartered in Carlsbad, California, currently

employs more than 31,000 people with operations on three continents.

Jay’s demanding role includes total responsibility for establishing the company’s strategic direction to drive long-term revenue and profit growth, formulating international marketing and business development strategies, retooling operations to accelerate expansion and control costs, and leading an executive team with accountability for executing and fulfilling the company’s mission and aggressive business goals. He is a tireless, results-driven leader possessing exceptionally strong organizational leadership and consensus building qualifications, and holds special expertise in the areas of strategic and operational business planning, sales, marketing, new business development, operations, finance, mergers, acquisitions and strategic partnerships.

Prior to joining Emerson, Jay served as Executive Vice President of Knowles Electronics, a $200 million global electronics manufacturer. Before his promotion to EVP, Jay held the position of Vice President and General Manager of the $100 million Asia / Pacific division, during which time he was headquartered in Taipei. In his earliest position at Knowles, Jay held the title of Vice President and General Manager within the $20 million Synchro-Start Products division.

Traveling an average of 250,000 miles a year, Jay leads by example and has been consistently recognized for his innate ability to identify and rapidly capitalize upon global market opportunities. During his tenure at Emerson, Jay has led the company to record levels of financial and operating successes, and his outstanding performance has earned him considerable accolades and substantially higher levels of responsibility. At the present time, he is one of only 15 key executives reporting directly to the Chairman  & CEO of Emerson, the $20 billion parent company which employs in excess of 130,000 people worldwide.

Jay also serves on the advisory boards for both the undergraduate and graduate programs of the Eller Business School at the University of Arizona; a function he has held since 2003.

Jay attended the University of Arizona on a full basketball scholarship where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing, followed by an Executive Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Chicago. A golf enthusiast who also enjoys jogging and reading, Jay resides in Elgin, Illinois with his wife Judith and daughter Brittany.
