Carolyn
Batiste
(Term ends 2008)
Carolyn Batiste has served as a member of the MiraCosta College Board of Trustees
since 1995.
Carolyn has been a member of the ACES, CCLC Advisory Committee on Education
Services since October 1998. In May 2000, she was elected to serve as a member
of the California Community Colleges Trustees (CCCT) Board.
Carolyn is a graduate of MiraCosta College and is currently completing requirements
for a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology/ minor in Women's Studies at California
State University, San Marcos.
She has been active in the Oceanside community as a volunteer for Women's
Resource Center and as a student employee of MiraCosta College. Most recently,
she has been a youth leader with New Venture Christian Fellowship's Junior
and Senior High program. Carolyn has ten plus years of community service with
students. She also serves on the Oceanside High School Educational Task Force,
Oceanside Harbor Expansion Task Force, Oceanside Sister City Committee, and
is a Leadership Speaker/Facilitator for Girl Scouts of America.
Carolyn's present occupation is Administrative Vice President, GEOPACIFICA,
INC., a soils consulting firm.
Carolyn was previously employed at MiraCosta College in 1994 as the LINKS
Program Coordinator; responsible for recruiting, advertising and supporting
women and men choosing to enter non-traditional occupations, or academic majors.
While a student employee during 1990 to 1993, Carolyn was employed in a variety
of student positions; tutoring, circulation desk at San Elijo, participated
in the Faculty/Student Mentoring Program, and served as a Student Ambassador.
She also served in the US Navy (4 years), and the US Naval Reserves (6 years).
