Upon returning to
the United States, after living 18 years in México, Gloria
became well known in North San Diego County for her advocacy
within the Hispanic community, as well as in the areas of immigration,
human relations, and the plight of migrant farm workers.
Gloria served for
many years on the County of San Diego Human Relations Commission
and on the Advisory Board of the County Department of Transborder
Affairs. She remains active as a Community Representative on
the Juvenile Justice Program for the City of Carlsbad Police
Department, is a board member of SER/Jobs For Progress, and
has formed parts of numerous other civic and volunteer organizations.
