Accomplished MiraCosta College art students Mary Ann May, Rebecca McIntire, and Valentina Ferguson will showcase their recent oil paintings in a group exhibition.
A reception for the artists will be held Monday, May 19, 4-6 p.m. in the gallery. Gallery hours for this show: Monday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; and Tuesday/Wednesday, 10 a.m.-7:30pm. Both the exhibit and the reception are free and open to the public.
Obtain a free visitor’s parking permit from the Campus Police, Building 1100 in Lot 1A. Use Lot 3B for gallery parking.

MiraCosta Collegeˇ¦s North Coast Symphony Orchestra and local musicians will showcase the talents of three local soloists. The concert will also feature guest conductors Don and Dave Megill, longtime MiraCosta music instructors who are retiring this spring.

LATINO GRADUATION CELEBRATION
The MiraCosta College 12th Annual Latino Graduation Celebration will be held May 16 at 6 p.m. in the Student Center Dining Room at MiraCosta, 1 Barnard Dr., Oceanside. Students earning certificates, associate degrees, as well as students from the Community Learning Center who will be earning adult high school diplomas, will be honored. Students will have the opportunity to publicly thank their families and friends, in English or Spanish, for assisting them in achieving their educational goals.
Keynote speaker will be Mr. Robert Rivas, operations manager and grant coordinator for Tri-City Medical Center. Rivas is also the founding president of Encuentros Leadership, a nonprofit group that provides mentors and assistance to reduce drop-out rates among Latino boys. The event will also feature a procession of the 2008 graduates and an Azteca Conch Celebration, a spiritual Aztec dance ceremony during which the graduates are blessed.
