MiraCosta College Police Department to Offer
Rape Aggression Defense Course
MiraCosta College’s Police Department will be offering a Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) course on January 14, 15 and 16, 6-9:30 p.m. at the MiraCosta College Community Learning Center, 1831 Mission Ave., in Oceanside. The class is offered free of charge.
R.A.D. is a 12-hour program that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction, avoidance and progresses to the basics of hands-on defense training. The R.A.D. program was created to teach women how to defend themselves against rape aggression. The self-defense techniques taught in this course are practical, and students will have the opportunity to use the techniques they have learned in a full-contact simulated assault scenario held on the last day of class.
The class is open to community members. Space is limited and registration will be on a first-come-first-served basis. For registration, or additional information, contact MiraCosta College police officer Chris Roberts at (760) 795-6640 or croberts@miracosta.edu, or officer Rebecca Arnold at (760) 795-6519 or rarnold@miracosta.edu.
