MiraCosta College Newspaper Nationally Recognized
The MiraCosta College Chariot was ranked tenth in the nation for community college newspapers at the Associated Collegiate Press (ACP) awards in San Francisco. The honor is presented for general excellence in the quality of reporting, writing and editing; layout design; photography; and examples of special project reporting and editorial page leadership.
“It’s an honor to be recognized as one of the top ten community college newspapers in the country,” says Chariot Editor in Chief Crystal Harris. “It’s great to know that the hard work we have put into our student newspaper has been recognized.”
ACP is the largest national organization for college newspapers, with more than 20,000 college student members.
“This award not only honors the current Chariot staff, but the hundreds of previous staff members who contributed to the continued success of the newspaper,” says Chariot adviser Jane DeRoche.
