MiraCosta College Concerts to Feature
Guitar Orchestra, Wind Ensemble
MiraCosta College will present the following concerts this May:
“Surfing Guitars,” will feature the MiraCosta GuitOrchestra performing beach-inspired music, Friday, May 9 at 7:30 p.m. in Studio A of Bldg. 2200 at MiraCosta College, 1 Barnard Dr., Oceanside. General admission is $10; students and seniors, $8. The concert will include Handel’s “Water Music,” and surf classics such as “Pipeline” and “Miserlou.” The ensemble of twenty guitarists is comprised of students, faculty and guest performers, and is directed by faculty member Eric Foster.
"Spring Concert,” with the MiraCosta Windjammers Community Concert Band, Saturday, May 10 at 2 p.m., in Studio A of Bldg. 2200 at the Oceanside campus. Admission is free. The band will perform standards from concert band literature, providing the audience an opportunity to hear the compositional artistry of some of the greatest composers of wind ensemble music, including Gustav Holst, Charles Carter and Robert Russell Bennett. Faculty member Jonathan Ingber will conduct.
