MiraCosta College Choral Concert: "Sing Into Spring"
MiraCosta’s three choral ensembles will present their final concert of the year, “Sing Into Spring,” on Saturday, May 10 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, May 11 at 2 p.m., in the MiraCosta Theatre, 1 Barnard Dr., Oceanside. General admission is $10; students and seniors, $8. Participating will be the North Coast Concert Chorale, the Chamber Chorale, and the Camerata Singers, all conducted by James Shepard.
The Chamber Chorale will present traditional and contemporary selections including the spirituals “A City Called Heaven” and “Oh Mary, Don’t You Weep.” They will also perform songs prepared for their upcoming concert tour of Costa Rica. These include “Guaria Morada” (the national flower of Costa Rica), and “Caña Lucia” (a Costa Rican dance).
The North Coast Chorale will perform gospel and spirituals arranged by Moses Hogan, as well as an arrangement of the American folk song “Cindy,” complete with harmonica, washboards, and percussion.
MiraCosta’s Camerata Singers will present contemporary madrigals by Emma Lou Diemer, and “If Music Be the Food of Love,” by David Dickau.
