MiraCosta College Presents "Solo Time" Concert
MiraCosta College’s North Coast Symphony Orchestra and local musicians will showcase their talents during “Solo Time.” Performances are scheduled for Saturday, May 17 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 18 at 2 p.m. in the MiraCosta Theatre, 1 Barnard Dr., Oceanside. General admission is $10; students and seniors, $8.
The concerts will feature three soloists with the orchestra:
- Pianist Randi Rudolph, who will play the first movement of Kabalevsky’s Piano Concerto No. 3.
- Vocalist Katrina Aguilar, who will perform Dvorak’s “Song to the Moon” from “Rusalka.”
- Trumpeter and MiraCosta instructor Jonathan Ingber, who will present Neruda’s Trumpet Concerto in E Flat Major.
The orchestra will also perform Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Scheherazade,” which features many small orchestra solos. Daniel Swem will conduct this piece as well as Aguilar's solo.
The concert will also feature guest conductors Don and Dave Megill, longtime MiraCosta music instructors who are retiring this spring. Don will conduct the piano concerto and Dave will direct the trumpet concerto.
