MiraCosta College Holding Free Drafting Design Summit
MiraCosta College’s Drafting Department is hosting a free Design Summit on Saturday, October 10, 9am-noon, in the 4500 Bldg. of the Oceanside Campus. This event will bring together design industry professionals, instructors, counselors and administrators from local high schools, colleges and universities to offer a broad look at the college’s design drafting program. The program has been upgraded and expanded to include new workstations, two new instructors and three upgraded labs.
“The engineering, architecture and CAD labs look better than ever,” says lead drafting instructor Paul Clarke. “And award-winning student projects from the San Diego County Fair will be on display.” This will also be an excellent opportunity for prospective students and interested community members to tour the facilities and meet faculty and students.
The summit will begin at 9 a.m. with a light breakfast, then continue with eight breakout sessions. The event will conclude at noon with a lunch sponsored by SolidWorks and the CDTC (California Drafting Technology Consortium). The breakout sessions will offer attendees an interesting array of drafting topics from which to choose, such as SolidWorks 2010 tips & tricks, rapid prototyping/3D printing, design careers and more. Also scheduled is an industry advisory board meeting, which will be attended by professionals in the architecture, engineering and CAD industries.
MiraCosta College is located at 1 Barnard Drive, Oceanside. The summit is free to attend and no reservations are necessary. For information contact Paul Clarke by e-mail or call (760) 757-2121, ext. 6405.
