Looking for MiraCostans to Make A Difference

MiraCosta College is seeking volunteers within its ranks to work with local organizations on Make A Difference Day, October 24. Help celebrate the college’s 75th anniversary by helping others and providing community outreach, continuing MiraCosta’s long history of transforming lives.

Make A Difference Day is an annual event that takes place on the fourth Saturday of October. Created by USA Weekend magazine in 1992, it has grown over the years to become the largest community service effort in the nation, rallying corporations, government leaders, charitable organizations and everyday Americans into action on one day. Each year, 3 million people participate worldwide, helping millions more.

MiraCosta’s Service Learning Program has compiled a list of volunteer projects for students, staff and faculty from which to choose. And getting involved is easy! Check out the list here. There are a variety of different projects from painting to helping with a haunted house. Select a project and then contact the Service Learning and Volunteer Center to sign up. Logistics will be provided once you volunteer.

Volunteers can work individually or recruit friends and adopt a project as a team. All volunteers will receive our special 75th anniversary t-shirt. Now is the time for all good MiraCostans to get involved, and to make a difference.

For more information, contact Carol Wilkinson by e-mail or call (760) 795-6616.
