MiraCosta Dance Department Presents
'Shapes & Reflections 2009'
MiraCosta’s Dance Program leaps into action to celebrate our rich dance heritage and diversity with “Shapes and Reflections 2009.” The show is choreographed by MiraCosta faculty and a few selected advanced students, and will be directed by MiraCosta instructors Trisha Hanada-Rogers and Dave Massey.
Program highlights will include:
• “Starry Eyed,” a group piece choreographed by dance major Erin Pong set to music by Ellie Goulding. It combines jazz, hip hop and contemporary dance styles.
• “1940 Dreams,” a tap dance duet performed by students Amanda Lamson and Erin Holmes, Which ranges from soft-shoe to an a capella rhythm tap section. Music will include “Begin the Beguine.”
• "Rueda de Casino - Cuban Salsa," choreographed by student Tim Snedeker, who has created a dance in the circular “Salsa Rueda” style popular in Latin nightclub settings.
• Jaqueline Lenhard, a recent MiraCosta graduate with an A.A. degree in dance, will choreograph a piece for six dancers. Her dance has been selected to represent MiraCosta at the American College Dance Festival next spring. Jaqui is also the recipient of the MiraCosta Friends of Dance scholarship award.
