MiraCosta College's Jazz Ensemble to Perform

with Special Guest Ernie Watts

MiraCosta College’s Jazz Ensemble welcomes two-time Grammy-award-winning saxophonist Ernie Watts to perform with them in a concert scheduled for Saturday, December 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the MiraCosta College Theatre. Watts is one of the most respected and influential tenor saxophonists of the post-Coltrane era. He has been featured on more than 500 recordings by artists ranging from Cannonball Adderley to Frank Zappa.

On Saturday afternoon, Watts will present a jazz improvisation clinic and Q & A at 1 p.m., followed by an open rehearsal with the MiraCosta Jazz Ensemble. The evening concert will feature brand new arrangements of Watts’ original music plus familiar standards. The MiraCosta Jazz Ensemble performs under the direction of Steve Torok.
