MiraCosta College Presents Lecture by Noted Historian
Prominent historian Dr. Christopher Stowe is scheduled to speak at
MiraCosta College
on the topic "The Rhymes of History: The Civil War, Southern Reconstruction, and a War on Terror." The event is scheduled for Wednesday, April 25, 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Aztlan Room of the
Student Center
(Bldg. 3400) at MiraCosta College, 1 Barnard Drive, Oceanside.
In his lecture, Dr. Stowe will make connections between what we asked the military to do during Reconstruction, and our more recent actions in the Middle East. Dr. Stowe will speak as an academic and his opinions are his own, not those of the army or the federal government.
Stowe earned his doctorate from the University of Toledo and is an associate professor within the Department of Military History at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. He has written numerous articles and reviews on American and military history and has a forthcoming book titled George Gordon Meade: A Nineteenth-Century Life, to be published by the Kent State University Press.
The lecture will be of special interest to area veterans, and interested community members are also welcome to attend.
