MiraCosta College Police Department to Offer Rape Aggression Defense Course
MiraCosta College’s Police Department
is offering a three-session evening course in Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) for female students, faculty, staff and community members. Class will be held August 14-16, 6-10 p.m., at
MiraCosta’s Oceanside Campus
, located at 1 Barnard Drive. The R.A.D. course is offered free of charge.
R.A.D. is a program that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance, and progresses to the basics of hands-on defense training. The R.A.D. program was created to teach women how to defend themselves against rape aggression. The self-defense techniques taught in this course are practical, and students will have the opportunity to use the techniques they have learned in a full-contact simulated assault scenario held on the last day of class.
The class is open to females age 14 and up. Participants must attend all three sessions. Space is limited and registration will be on a first-come-first-served basis. For registration, or additional information, contact
MiraCosta College
Police Office at sguzman@miracosta.edu or call (760) 795-6640.
