Wednesday, October 1, 12:00-1:00 p.m., Student Center. “Want a Great Job When You Graduate?” with guest speaker John R. Jell. Come learn valuable insights that could save you years of frustration and thousands of dollars. Jell is a highly acclaimed author of books on student transition to the full-time workforce and a twenty year veteran with two global powerhouse companies—CocaCola and Nestle.

Friday, October 3, 1:00 p.m., SAN 201 — “Politically Speaking.” Political Science professor Roxana Folescu will facilitate a discussion on candidates, the electoral college, and answer questions about the election process.

Tuesday, October 7, 12-1:00 p.m., SAN 108 — Student Success Workshop. “Got Articles?” Jennifer Paris and Pamela Perry will offer tips on finding periodical articles in the MiraCosta College Library.

Friday, October 10, 1-3:00 p.m., SAN204 — International Film Series: Golden Door (Italy, 2006, 118 minutes, PG-13) Sicilian peasant Salvatore yearns for a better life, one he believes exists only in America, but is unprepared for the treatment he receives when he arrives at Ellis Island. Directed by Emanuele Crialese, this was a New York Times Critics’ Pick. Flex credit available.

Thursday, October 16, 7-9:00 p.m., Student Center Conference Room. Meet the Candidates Forum— MiraCosta College Board of Trustees. Sponsored by the League of Women Voters.


Friday, October 17, 1:00 p.m., SAN 201. Adventures in Astrology. Each astrological sun sign is associated with one of these four elements of nature: fire, earth, air, and water. Astrologer Lynda Ray will help you discover and define how your specific elemental energy influences your life and behavior.

Friday, October 24, 1-3:00 p.m., SAN204 — International Film Series: Paris, Je T’aime (France, 2006, 120 minutes, R). Eighteen short love stories set in Paris, some happy and some sad, by celebrated directors from around the world including Gus Van Sant and the Coen brothers. Flex credit available.

Tuesday, October 28, 7-9:00 p.m., Student Center Conference Room. Meet the Candidates Forum—Encinitas City Council. Sponsored by the Encinitas Chamber of Commerce.

Friday, October 31, 1-3:00 p.m., SAN 201. “The Latest Attempt at Everest.” Last year Bill Burke came to share with us his wonderful climb to Mt. Everest. At that time he was preparing for his second attempt to reach the highest peak. Bill will join us on this day to talk abut his latest trip and adventure.
