Online Orientation and Advisement
Welcome to MiraCosta College's online Orientation and Group Advisement sessions. The matriculation process (Orientation, Testing and Advisement) starts you on the right path and keeps you going with the information you need to arrive at your educational destination. Right here on the web you can learn all about policies, procedures, student services, degree requirements, course scheduling, and more. You can listen to audio narrated information, and explore an interactive campus map. Persons with disabilities may request alternative methods of presentation by calling 760-795-6658. You may also call for on-campus appointments with faculty and staff by calling 760-795-6670.
New Students - Get Prepared through Matriculation!
| Step 1: |
Apply for Admission. Matriculate after submitting an application and before enrolling for classes. If you are a returning MiraCosta student, you must reapply if you have sat out either a fall or spring term. |

| Step 2: |
Orientation. Complete Student Orientation to receive credit for completion of the orientation portion of matriculation. You must complete the quiz at the end of the orientation with 100% accuracy and then submit it for credit. You need to have a SURF ID number to complete the quiz. Please note, for persons using assistive technology such as a screen reader, the online quiz is not accessible at this time. Please attend a live orientation session. Apply for Admission to receive your SURF ID number. If you do not need credit for viewing our orientation, do not submit the quiz at the end. If you encounter problems viewing this orientation, we suggest you use FireFox Mozilla or Safari to launch the presentation, instead of Internet Explorer.

Assessment (Testing) which includes the English and Math placement tests. These may be taken at either campus. |

Advisement. Complete Student Advisement to receive credit for the advisement portion of matriculation. Review both Part I and Part II, complete the quiz at the end of Part II with 100% accuracy and then submit it for credit. You need to have a SURF ID number to complete the quiz. Apply for Admission to receive your SURF ID number. If you do not need credit for viewing our advisement, do not submit the quiz at the end. Review Transfer Advisement parts I and II if you plan to transfer to another institution to complete your educational goals (i.e., transfer to get your Bachelor's Degree). Review the Associate Degree and Career Technical Education Advisement parts I and II if you plan to complete your educational goals at MiraCosta (i.e., earn a Certificate or an Associate of Arts Degree). You may take both sets of Advisement sessions if you desire, but you only need to complete one set of Advisement sessions and only submit one quiz for credit. If you do not need credit for viewing our advisement, do not submit the quiz at the end.
