Community Service Assistants (CSA)
MiraCosta College Police has 5 -10 community service assistants (C.S.A.), and many are students of MiraCosta College. The C.S.A.s are a very important part of our department. They handle a variety of duties and responsibilities, including Dispatch and Patrol functions. The C.S.As are our extra set of eyes and ears on campus.
Patrol C.S.A.s handle a wide assortment of calls such as issuing parking citations, providing escorts for students, faculty, and staff to and from classes, and assisting with vehicle lockouts and jump starts for stalled vehicles. As needed, they assist officers with calls for service.
Dispatch C.S.A.s are a critical part of our department. They receive and dispatch us to all the necessary calls of service. They are our first line of communication with the public. They issue temporary and permanent parking permits and provide a variety of other services to visitors, students, and staff including a variety of office work.
All C.S.A.s are able to issue parking citations.
For more information about the C.S.A. program or to obtain an application for a C.S.A. (student) position, please contact Sergeant Benny Perez at (760) 795-6643.
