Personal Counseling Services
MiraCosta College offers personal counseling through our Health Services program at both the Oceanside and San Elijo campuses. Counseling services are provided by marriage and family therapy interns under the supervision of a licensed counselor. To obtain these services, the student must be currently enrolled and have paid the health services fee. The following information may answer some of your questions about this service.
What kind of services are provided?
Individual, couple and family counseling is available at no cost. Referral information and crisis counseling is also available. An appointment is necessary for counseling services, call 760-795-6675 for both campuses. Sessions are usually 50 minutes, one time per week, for six weeks.
What kind of problems are addressed?
Some typical problems include stress or anxiety, depression, poor self-esteem, sleeping difficulties, excessive worry or guilt. Problems may center around: marital or family conflict, drug or alcohol abuse, weight or eating issues, sexual concerns, incest or rape, assertiveness issues, difficulties at work or school, relationships, or life goal-setting.
