Leave of Absence
Students may take a one-semester leave of absence from Honors coursework and still retain active status in the Honors Program. Students must have a legitimate reason for not taking an Honors addendum and need to make an appointment to discuss this with the Honors counselor. The student’s Honors counselor must approve all requests for the leave of absence.
Approval for the planned Leave of Absence from the Honors Scholar Program is subject to the following:
- Must be for a purpose which contributes to the student’s educational objective.
- Must be approved by the student’s Honors Counselor.
- Student must be eligible to enroll for the term in which the leave begins and not be on Honors academic probation (below 3.0 GPA).
- The application for the Leave of Absence must be initiated and approved before the leave begins and will not be granted retroactively.
The Leave of Absence Forms are available in the Honors Office or in the Transfer Center.
** Please be aware that if a student does not take an Honors addendum they may be placed on the Honors inactive list or even dropped from the program.
