Mark Yeager Physical Science 106
Title of Course: Energy, Motion, and Matter
Service Learning Assignment:
Members of a group must work together, and in collaboration with a local public school teacher in grades K - 5, to find a suitable learning object in physics, chemistry or a related field. A "learning object" is a single, self-contained resource used to help students acquire concepts or skills in a particular, well-defined area. Examples include demonstrations, lectures, web pages, videos and computer animations. The form, subject and level of difficulty of the learning object must be suitable for use in a class taught by the teacher, and must be chosen in cooperation with the teacher--that is, the group should not choose a topic and then tell the teacher that is the topic the group will use.
Learning Objectives of Service Assignment:
To provide students with experience teaching physical science through the development and implementation of a "learning object", in cooperation with, and to meet the needs of a public elementary school teacher.
