Lifeline is currently recruiting bilingual (Spanish/English) volunteers to participate in theEITC tax program, with tax training beginning in December, and volunteer positions running through April of 2010. Opportunities are offered in the areas of tax preparation (no experience necessary), translation, reception/intake, information distribution (immediate need), IT and clerical support. Areas of interest include Spanish, Law, Accounting, IT, Social Services and Administration.  Lifeline—in conjunction with San Diego County and many talented, dedicated volunteers—provides low-income families and individuals with basic tax preparation. This program works diligently to help families access tax refunds—particularly the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)—and other resources that will help them improve their family’s financial position. For many families, the tax credits allow them to make a down payment on a vehicle, house, or education, and literature about maintaining finances may put them on the right track for the long run.

Volunteers are needed to staff the Vista and Oceanside locations in a variety of different roles detailed in the attached information. Lifeline will offer training and flexible scheduling, and previous experience is not necessary. Students can get involved by volunteering for just 4 hours per week! The majority of opportunities run December through April. If interested, please contact Katy Liesenfelt, Volunteer Program Coordinator (760) 726.4900  x6254   kliesenfelt@nclifeline.org
