MiraCosta College lost by a score of 4-1 on 11-14-08 against San Diego Mesa College.  Mike Palmerin scored the loan goal for MiraCosta off of a free kick in the fifty third minute of play.

In the second half MiraCosta opened up the scoring when Shane Moran found Kyle Wynn on a cross in the sixty ninth minute. Wynn scored his second goal of the game and fourth on the season when Sean Moran found Wynn also on a cross in the seventy seventh minute.

MiraCosta Wins Third Game In A Row

MiraCosta College defeated Allan Hancock College on Saturday 09-13-08 by a score of 5-2. MiraCosta opened up the scoring in the sixth minute of play when Chris Nielsen found Shane Moran in the box. MiraCosta held a 1-0 lead at the half.

In the fiftieth minute of play MiraCosta scored an unassisted goal when Emanuel Lopez hit a long range arching shot that chipped the AHC goal keeper. One Minute later AHC scored their first goal of the game.

MiraCosta went on to score three goals in a fifteen minute span. In the sixty first minute Chris Nielsen was set up by Kyle Wynn for his first goal of the season. In the seventy first minute Shane Moran found Kyle Wynn who scored his first goal of the season also. Moments later Kyle Wynn scored again when Shane Moran found him for the second time in the match. AHC added their second goal in the eighty third minute.

MiraCosta College defeated El Camino College on Monday 09-08-08 by a score of 3-2. El Camino opened up the scoring on a counter attack in the thirty second minute of play. They added their second goal within the first half in injury time when a MiraCosta defender was beat in the box. El Camino held a 2-0 lead at the half.

In the sixty third minute of play MiraCosta scored an unassisted goal by Mike Palmerin. Minutes later in the seventy seventh minute Shane Moran found Leo De La Vega in the box who scored. The third goal for MiraCosta happened in the eighty first minute when Leo De La Vega found Mike Palmerin for his second goal of the game and fifth of the season.

MiraCosta College defeated Victor Valley College on Friday 09-05-08 by a score of 2-1. MiraCosta opened up the scoring in the twenty eighth minute of play. Shane Moran found a streaking Mike Palmerin who put the ball in the back of the net for his second score of the season. MiraCosta took a 1-0 lead into halftime.

In the fifty third minute of play Victor Valley scored with nice combination play through the eighteen yard box of MiraCosta. MiraCosta went ahead for good in the fifty seventh minute when Sean Moran found Mike Palmerin for his second of the game, third of the season, and final goal of the game.

MiraCosta goal keeper Hector Prado had 11 saves and came up big on three separate occasions within the game to preserve the win.

MiraCosta Ties West Hills College

MiraCosta College tied West Hills College on Sunday 08-31-08 by a score of 3-3. MiraCosta opened up the scoring in the third minute of play. Mike Palmerin cut out a pass from the West Hills right defender and took the ball to goal converting on his first score of the season. West Hills retaliated in the 12th minute. MiraCosta got their second goal in the twentieth minute of play off of a cross that was knocked down by Alex Andrade to Erick Contreras who tucked the ball in the back of the net. This sent MiraCosta into halftime with a 2-1 lead.

The score remained the same until the sixty first minute of the second half when West Hills capitalized on a miss timed pass from a MiraCosta defender. MiraCosta was quick to score again in the sixty second minute when Reynaldo Lugo served a ball into Raul Espinoza who finished touching the ball around the West Hills keeper.

The third goal for West Hills came late in the 84th minute of play when MiraCosta goal Keeper Hector Prado was screened.

2007 State Champions Defeat MiraCosta

Taft College defeated MiraCosta College on Saturday 08-30-08 by a score of 4-0. Taft opened up the scoring in the 27th minute of play. The score remained the same until the second minute of the second half when Taft served a ball across the box and finished. The third and fourth goals for Taft came in the 69th and 87th minutes respectively.

Men's Soccer Season Opens

The MiraCosta College men's soccer team opened up play on Friday 08-29-08 at the Allan Hancock College Tournament vs. Rio Hondo College. This is the first of three games to be played at the Tournament.

Rio Hondo College was seeded 4th in the State Tournament in 2007. From the start the game was played at a rapid pace. Rio Hondo had 10 shots, 3 corners, and 0 saves in the first 45 minutes of play. MiraCosta had 1 shot, 1 corner, and 4 saves in the first half. The game remained deadlocked at zero to zero through the first half.

Rio Hondo opened up the scoring in the 58th minute and then surged to scoring consecutive goals in the 62nd and 66th minutes. Rio Hondo added one more goal in the 81st minute of play.
