MiraCosta VS Southwestern Game Cancelled
The MiraCosta College men's soccer team was supposed to play Southwestern College on Friday 11-13-09 to close out their schedule for the 2009 season. The game was not played because the officials for the game never arrived at the match. The conference will make an official ruling on the game on Monday 11-16-09.
MiraCosta Wins Duarte Scores Tenth Goal
The MiraCosta College men's soccer team won on Friday 11-06-09 to close out their home schedule for the 2009 season. MiraCosta defeated Cuyamaca College by a score of two goals to one.
In a thrilling match MiraCosta was able to find the back of the net first on an unassisted goal when Chris Nielsen followed a shot in that rebounded off of the Cuyamaca goal keeper (seventeenth minute). MiraCosta was able to preserve a one to zero lead at the half.
Cuyamaca rallied to tie the match midway through the second half on a counter attack. Momentum continued to swing back and forth but MiraCosta prevailed in the end when Andre Duarte scored his tenth goal of the season in the eighty first minute of the match unassisted.
Kyle Wynn played in goal for MiraCosta. He recorded seven saves in the win. MiraCosta travels to Southwestern College on 11-13-09 to close out the regular season.
MiraCosta Drops To San Diego City College
The MiraCosta College men's soccer team lost on Wednesday to San Diego City College. MiraCosta scored a goal in the second half when Arturo Olazaba set up Bailey Maupin in the seventieth minute of the match.
Kyle Wynn played sixty five minutes in goal for MiraCosta. He recorded ten saves. Ricardo Enriquez played twenty five minutes in goal for MiraCosta and recorded seven saves.
The final score finished in favor of City by a score of three to one. MiraCosta hosts Cuyamaca College on Friday November sixth.
MiraCosta Drops To Palomar College
The MiraCosta College men's soccer team lost on Friday to Palomar College. MiraCosta was held scoreless in the match.
Kyle Wynn played in goal for MiraCosta. He recorded sixteen saves.
The final score finished in favor of Palomar by a score of three to zero. MiraCosta travels to San Diego City College on Wednesday November fourth.
MiraCosta Ties Imperial Valley College
The MiraCosta College men's soccer team tied on Wednesday with Imperial Valley College. The game finished scoreless in a zero to zero ninety minute battle.
Kyle Wynn played in goal for MiraCosta and had six saves while giving up zero goals. MiraCosta travels to rival Palomar College on Friday October 30th.
MiraCosta Ties San Diego Mesa College
The MiraCosta College men's soccer team tied on Friday with San Diego Mesa College. MiraCosta scored their first goal in the fifth minute when Zach Alcantara sent a cross into Sean Stahl who was able to head the ball past the Mesa GK. MiraCosta took a one to zero lead into the half.
Mesa tied the game in the sixtieth minute. MiraCosta took a two to one lead in the eighty second minute off of a Timothy Farrell goal that was unassisted. Farrell crashed the Mesa goal on a rebound and finished the opportunity. MiraCosta looked to have the win in hand but a late injury time goal for Mesa in the ninety third minute dashed MiraCosta's hopes.
Kyle Wynn played in goal for MiraCosta and had six saves while giving up two goals. The final score finished tied two to two. MiraCosta travels to Imperial Valley College on Wednesday October 28th.
MiraCosta Loses To Southwestern College
The MiraCosta College men's soccer team lost on Wednesday to Southwestern College. MiraCosta scored one goal in the match.
Sean Stahl scored in the twenty eighth minute of the match. Arturo Olzaba had the assist.
Kyle Wynn played the first half of the game in goal for MiraCosta and had three saves while giving up four goals. Ricardo Enriquez finished the game out playing the second half. He had four saves and two goals scored against.
The final score finished in favor of Southwestern by a score of six to one. MiraCosta hosts San Diego Mesa College on Friday October 23rd.
MiraCosta Loses To Cuyamaca College
The MiraCosta College men's soccer team lost on Wednesday to Cuyamaca College. MiraCosta scored one goal in the match. Zach Alcantara scored unassisted in the eight minute of the match. Ricardo Enriquez finished the game with seven saves and five goals scored against. The final score finished in favor of Cuyamaca by a score of five to one.
MiraCosta Loses Heart Breaker VS City College
The MiraCosta College men's soccer team lost a hard fought battle on Friday to San Diego City College. MiraCosta broke open the scoring in the fifty fifth minute of play (second half). The goal came from Adrian Avila who ran with the ball from midfield and beat three different City defenders before breaking away to goal and scoring. It was a fantastic individual effort.
San Diego City College was awarded a penalty kick in the seventy fifth minute when MiraCosta goalkeeper Kyle Wynn tripped a City player who had broken away to goal. City was able to score on the foul.
Wynn was given a red card for the foul as he was the last man defending. Wynn left the game with zero goals scored against him and fifteen saves.
Replacement goalkeeper Ricardo Enriquez was called for a foul in the box two minutes later and City College was once again awarded a penalty kick. City again converted the kick and took their first lead of the day.
Enriquez finished the game with one save and four goals scored against. The final score finished in favor of City College by a score of four to one.
MiraCosta Drops Second Home Conference Match
The MiraCosta College men's soccer team lost on Wednesday to Palomar College. The score finished in favor of Palomar with a final of 4-1.
The bright spot for MiraCosta in the game was the loan goal scored by Adrian Avila. Avila was set up by Ari Jogiel in the sixty first minute of play. Goal keeper Kyle Wynn had twelve saves for MiraCosta in the loss.
MiraCosta Loses Home Conference Opener
The MiraCosta College men's soccer team lost on Friday to Imperial Valley College. The score finished in favor of Imperial Valley with a final of 4-3.
IVC scored the first goal in the twelfth minute of play but MiraCosta answered quickly scoring a goal of their own three minutes later. MiraCosta scored their first goal when Andre Duarte followed a shot that rebounded off of the IVC goalkeeper and scored. IVC went on to score two more goals in the first half taking a 3-1 score to half time.
MiraCosta started a fierce comeback in the seventy first minute when Bailey Maupin sent a ball into the box that Adrian Avila was able to finish for the second MiraCosta goal. Three minutes later MiraCosta tied the game at 3-3 when Andre Duarte stole a ball around the top of the box and then went to goal scoring the equalizer.
Imperial Valley broke the tie and the hearts of MiraCosta when they scored their fourth goal of the match in the ninetieth minute of play. Goal Keeper Ricardo Enriquez finished the game with two saves for MiraCosta. MiraCosta now stands with a conference record of zero wins and two losses.
MiraCosta Loses Conference Opener
The MiraCosta College men's soccer team lost on Wednesday to San Diego Mesa College. The score finished in favor of San Diego Mesa with a final of 3-1.
Mesa scored the first goal in the sixteenth minute of play but MiraCosta answered quickly scoring a goal of their own minutes later. The MiraCosta goal came off of a perfectly timed pass from Adrian Avila into Andre Duarte. Mesa was able to score again in the thirty fifth minute of play to take a two to one score into the half.
In the second half Mesa scored their final goal on the day in the seventy fifth minute to put the game away. Goal Keeper Ricardo Enriquez finished the game with eight saves for MiraCosta. MiraCosta now stands with a conference record of zero wins and one loss.
MiraCosta Drops To San Bernardino College
The MiraCosta College men's soccer team lost on Friday to San Bernardino Valley College. The score finished in favor of San Bernardino with a final of 3-2.
MiraCosta scored their first goal in the twenty first minute when Adrian Avila scored off of a well timed pass from Andre Duarte. MiraCosta took a one to zero lead into the half.
In the second half MiraCosta jumped up to a two to zero lead when Adrian Avila returned the favor and set up an Andre Duarte goal in the fifty second minute. San Bernardino battled back and scored in the fifty third minute. This goal gave SBVC moment as they were able to score two more unanswered goals for the win.
Goal Keeper Ricardo Enriquez finished the game with fourteen saves. MiraCosta now stands with an overall record of two wins and six losses.
MiraCosta Drops To Chaffey College
The MiraCosta College men's soccer team lost on Wednesday to Chaffey College. The score finished in favor of Chaffey with a final of 5-0.
Chaffey came out strong in the first half tallying two goals. They went on to finish the second half the same way as the first as they score three more goals against MiraCosta.
Ricardo Enriquez finished the game with six saves in goal. MiraCosta now stands with an overall record of two wins and five losses.
MiraCosta Drops To Cypress College
The MiraCosta College men's soccer team lost on Friday to Cypress College. The score finished in favor of Cypress College with a final of 3-2.
MiraCosta and Cypress battled to a scoreless first half. Cypress came out strong in the second half tallying three consecutive goals.
MiraCosta scored their first goal in the eighty second minute when Andre Duarte set up Adrian Avila. Moments later in the eighty sixth minutes Adrian Avila returned the favor as he set up Andre Duarte for a goal.
Kyle Wynn finished the game with sixteen saves in goal as he replaced the injured starting GK Ricardo Enriquez. MiraCosta now stands with an overall record of two wins and four losses.
MiraCosta Falls In Third Place Game @ Allan Hancock Tournament
The MiraCosta College men's soccer team lost on Sunday to College of the Desert at the Allan Hancock Tournament. The score finished in favor of College of the Desert with a final of 4-2.
MiraCosta scored their first goal in the fiftieth minute when Andre Duarte punched in a rebounded shot that came off of the Goal Keeper. Late in the game Arturo Olazaba scored unassisted on a penalty kick.
Ricardo Enriquez finished the game with seven saves. MiraCosta now stands with an overall record of two wins and three losses.
MiraCosta Wins Beats Marymount College
The MiraCosta College men's soccer beat Marymount College on Saturday 9/12 at the Allan Hancock Tournament. The score finished in favor of MiraCosta with a final of 7-1.
MiraCosta had five different players score in the rout. Julio Cortez lead the way with a hat trick (three goals). Jose Guerrero, Bailey Maupin, Ryan Hays, and Andre Duarte also score goals.
Three players had assists for MiraCosta. Sean Stahl had three while Adrian Avila and Arturo Olazaba each had one.
Ricardo Enriquez finished the game with five saves for MiraCosta. MiraCosta plays on 9/13 in the third place game of the Allan Hancock Tournament.
MiraCosta Drops Against Rio Hondo College
The MiraCosta College men's soccer team lost on Friday 9/11 to Rio Hondo College at the Allan Hancock Tournament. The score finished in favor of Rio Hondo with a final of 4-2.
MiraCosta scored their first goal in the ninth minute when Jose Guerreo sent the ball across from the left flank to Andre Duarte. Late in the game Patrick Moisan sent the ball into Adrian Avila who shot the ball from long distance and scored in the nineth minute.
Ricardo Enriquez finished the game with eleven saves. MiraCosta plays on 9/12 against Marymount College.
MiraCosta Men's Soccer Loses First Of The Season
The MiraCosta College men's soccer team lost on Wednesday 9/9 to El Camino College at home. The score finished in favor of El Camino with a final of 6-1. The bright spot for MiraCosta in the game was the loan goal scored unassisted by Arturo Olazaba. MiraCosta travels this Friday to Allan Hancock College for a three game tournament 9/11-9/13.
MiraCosta Men's Soccer Wins Season Opener
The MiraCosta College men's soccer team traveled this Wednesday 9/2 to Victor Valley College to open up play. The game was the first official contest of the season.MiraCosta knew coming into this match that it would be a difficult challenge on the road in the high desert heat at 4000+ feet elevation.
In the first half MiraCosta opened up the scoring in the third minute off of combination play as the final pass was made from Andre Duarte into Adrian Avila on a through ball. Avila took the ball in stride then went on to beat one defender and shot the ball into the lower right corner of the goal. MiraCosta score their second goal four minutes later when center back Bailey Maupin sent a long ball down the right flank over the top to a surging Andre Duarte. Duarte collected the ball and blasted a shot from thirty yards out into the upper left corner of the goal. MiraCosta scored yet again in the fortieth minute when Andre Duarte beat a defender to the goal line and then passed the ball back to the penalty area where Arturo Olzaba took a side footed shot that sailed into the lower left corner of the goal. At the end of the half five minutes of extra time was allowed and Victor Valley was able to convert a shot taken off the post that dropped into the goal. MiraCosta took a 3-1 lead into the half.
MiraCosta started the second half just like the first as they scored in the forty ninth minute of play. Adrian Avila was taken down at the top of the box and a free kick was awarded to MiraCosta. Arturo Olzaba approached the ball to take the free kick and sent a blasting shot past the near side of the wall that beat the Victor Valley GK near post.
Victor Valley was able to score a second goal late in the game. The goal came off of a cross taken from the left side of the box finding a central player that was able to finish the well timed ball. The final finished with a score line in favor of MiraCosta 4-2.
GK Chase Caudill finished the game with six saves for MiraCosta. He notably stuffed two one on one opportunities for Victor Valley.
MiraCosta Men's Soccer Opens Strong in Exhibition Play
The MiraCosta College men's soccer team traveled this past weekend to Prescott Arizona to play two exhibition games against Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (Prescott AZ) and Southwestern College (Phoenix AZ) 8/22 & 8/23.
The first exhibition was on Friday night against a very strong NAIA member school Embry Riddle. MiraCosta knew coming into the match that it would be extremely tough to get a result on the road in the high desert heat at 6000 feet elevation. A very disciplined defensive formation and tactical strategy kept MiraCosta in site of an upset all the way to the final seconds of play. However ERAU was able to find the back of the net on a forty yard chip shot that just traveled over the head of the MiraCosta GK Ricardo Enriquez (9 saves). The final finished in favor of ERAU 1-0.
The second exhibition was on Saturday morning against Southwestern College another NAIA member school. After such an intense match the night before MiraCosta was coming into the game on tired legs while Southwestern was fresh as they had not played the day before.
In the first half MiraCosta opened up the scoring with a fantastic goal from Arturo Olazaba. Olazaba was set up in the thirteenth minute of play by Demetrio Jaime at the top of the box where he blasted the ball into the upper left corner of the goal. MiraCosta held a 1-0 lead into the half.
The second half was very entertaining as five goals were scored between the two teams. Southwestern scored to tie the game in the sixtieth minute of play. MiraCosta answered however with a second goal in the seventy eighth minute when Andre Duarte found Baily Maupin streaking behind the Southwester defense. One minute later Baily Maupin found the speedy Hirotomo Wada who hit the ball from twenty five yards into the upper left corner of the goal to take a 3-1 lead for MiraCosta.
Southwestern was able to make the game close moments after MiraCosta had a penalty kick saved when they scored in the eighty third minute of play cutting the lead to one goal in favor of MiraCosta (3-2). In the eighty eight minute Arturo Olazaba put the finishing touch on the match as he scored unassisted for MiraCosta when he was able to run with the ball through the Southwestern box and shred a player with a fake before he ripped a shot into the lower left corner of the goal.
GK Chase Caudill finished the game with three saves for MiraCosta. The final finished with a score line in favor of MiraCosta 4-2.
