2008 Commencement
*** Commencement Moves to Gym ***
Due to the strong chance of rain between now and tomorrow, the Commencement Ceremony will move to the Gym, Building 5000 on the Oceanside Campus. The reception following the ceremony will be held in the tent next to the gym. Closest parking for commencement guests is in Staff Lots 5A and 1C and in Student Lots 1B and 4C.
MiraCosta College will hold its 2008 commencement on Friday, May 23 at 5 p.m. in front of the Administration Building at the Oceanside campus, 1 Barnard Dr., Oceanside. Of the 1,112 graduates, 350 are anticipated to participate in commencement.
This year’s commencement speaker is retired MiraCosta College Athletic Director and basketball coach Clete Adelman. Adelman, who was recently inducted into the California Community College Men’s Basket ball Coaches’ Association Hall of Fame, was a coach for 39 years, including 24 years at MiraCosta. He holds a bachelors degree in English from Loyola University and a master’s degree in education from Azusa Pacific. Due to his dedication, many of Adelman’s former students have found success in their lives, including twenty-two who have followed in his footsteps to become coaches themselves, including current MiraCosta basketball coach Patrick Conahan.
