To facilitate the transfer of students to four-year universities, MiraCosta College has developed written faculty-approved documents called articulation agreements. Several kinds of articulation agreements exist with each having a different function.
Transferable Course List Agreements indicate which MiraCosta College courses are bachelor degree-level. At minimum, these courses are acceptable for transfer electives. All subsequent articulation agreements are based on the transferable course lists.
Major Preperation Agreements specify which courses at MiraCosta College fulfill lower-division major requirements at the four-year institutions. Special requirements may be included as part of the articulation agreement such as supplementing admissions requirements for selected majors.
General Education / Breadth Agreements indicate which courses a student can complete at MiraCosta College to satisfy the GE Breadth requirements at the four-year institutions.
Course By Course Agreements determine if a particular course at MiraCosta College is comparable to, equivalent to, or acceptable in lieu of a corresponding course at the receiving institution.
Articulation Agreements are vital to the transferring student so that adequate preparation results in normal progress towards a bachelor’s degree. Information on articulation agreements is available in the University Transfer Center and at http://www.assist.org.
