Online Tutoring

Welcome to Online Tutoring!

The Tutoring & Academic Support Center (TASC) is proud to present a new and innovative approach to tutoring. We can provide online tutoring through synchronous (i.e., real time chat) interaction on the web. Learn more by reading the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).

We use an E-Conferincing service called CCC Confer that is provided by The California Educational Technology Collaborative through funding from the Caifornia Community Colleges System Office. The system allows you to connect to tutors using the computer and phone at the same time. The CCC Confer tool works with both high speed internet access or dial-up service and uses an 800 (free) phone bridge. If you only have access to dial-up connectivity, you can still connect via the computer only or the phone only (you can even use a cell phone with a dial-up connection).

Follow these Steps to Make an Appointment:

1. Read the FAQs before considering online tutoring.

2. Read TASC's Scheduling Policy before making an appointment.

3. For subjects and times available, click here. Identify whether there is a tutor available to tutor your subject at the time that you need tutoring.

4. Download step by step instructions for online tutoring and the CCC Confer Tutorial.

5. Before making the appointment, please have the following information ready:

• Specify that you are calling to schedule an ONLINE TUTORING APPOINTMENT.
• What do you need help with? (Be Specific)
• Your textbook's name and author.
• At least three time slot choices.

6. To schedule an appointment come to or call the appropriate TASC office:

• Oceanside Campus: (760) 795-6682
• San Elijo Campus: (760) 944-4449 x7748
• You may leave a voice-mail message 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

7. Return here to connect to your appointment online at your scheduled appointment time.

8. After you complete your online tutoring appointment, please provide us feedback on your experience.
