MAC: Download Firefox
SURF requires the latest update of Firefox. Go to Firefox's website and download the most recent and applicable Firefox, or you can click the Apple icon located on the menu bar then click Software Update. To check your current version of Firefox please do the following:
- Launch Firefox.
- Select Firefox.
- Select About Firefox.
- The version number will appear Under the Firefox name.

MAC: Enable Cookies
Cookies must be enabled in order to use SURF.
- Launch FireFox.
- Select FireFox.
- Select Preferences.
- Select Privacy.
- In the Cookies section check mark the Accept cookies from sites.

MAC: Enable Active Content
JavaScript is required in order for SURF to fully function.

Launch FireFox .

Select FireFox .

Select Preferences.

Select Content.

Check mark on the following items: Enable JavaScript & Enable Java.

MAC: Clear History, Cache, and Cookies
History (List of websites you have visited), Cache (Copies of webpages, images, and media that are saved for faster viewing), and Cookies (Files stored on your computer by websites to save preferences such as login information) may contain past data/information which may affect future attempts for successful login. Clearing these files may avoid problems.

Launch FireFox.

Select FireFox.

Select Preferences.

Select the Privacy Tab.
- Check mark Ask me before clearing private data.

Click the Clear Now... button.

- Check mark Browsing History.

Check mark Download History.
-
Check mark Cache.
-
Check mark Cookies.
- Click the Clear Private Data Now button.

MAC: Disable Password Auto-Save
If the auto-complete feature is active in the browser and the SURF password is updated, there may be conflicts which will affect successful login to SURF.
- Launch FireFox.
- Select FireFox.
- Select Preferences.
- Select Security.
- Click the Show Passwords... button.
- Click the Remove All button.

MAC: Date & Time Properties
In Order to use SURF, you must ensure that your computer's date and time are correct. If incorrect, you can get an error message stating that your PeopleSoft connection has expired. Please do the following to check your computer's date and time:
- Go to the Apple Icon
- Select System Preferences.
- Select Date & Time tab.

- Check the clock on the right hand side and make sure that everything is correct.
- Check the date on the left hand side and ensure that the correct date is highlighted.
- Select Time Zone tab.

- Check the Time Zone and ensure that it says PDT. Click on the map to change the Time Zone.
- Check the Closest City and select San Diego - U.S.A.
- Close the Date & Time properties window.
- Try logging in again.
- If this fails, use FireFox browser to login. If you don't have it, click here to download it for free www.firefox.com.

MAC: International Computers
If you have an International Computer (a computer that is viewed in your foreign language) you cannot log into SURF. SURF can only function in English. Please set your computer to the English language as listed below.
- Launch FireFox.
- Click on the FireFox menu.
- Select Preferences.
- Select Advanced.
- Select the General tab.
- In the Languages section click the Choose... button.
- Set to English/United States [en-us], English [en]
- Click OK.

The MAC System must also be set to English:
- Click the Apple icon located on the left top corner.
- Select System Preferences...
- In the Personal section, double click International
- Ensure the English language is listed first on the list.
