Student Center Advisory Committee (SCAC)

The Student Center Advisory Committee is dedicated to serving the students and community of MiraCosta College through continuous improvement of Student Center planning and operations.  The committee provides recommendations to the Associated Student Government regarding building use policies, student center fee use, remodeling, and student center services.  Recommendations and decisions of the advisory committee are based on research and data, and align with the program review process of the Student Activities Office.

The Student Center Advisory Committee  reports to the Director of Student Activities.  The Student Center Manager and a student member co-chair the 12 member committee, comprised of students and staff. 

Membership includes: (3) three members of the Student Senate (one to act as co-chair), (2) two members of the ICC,  (1) Director of Student Activities, (1) Student Center Manager, (1) one club advisor, (1) one Facilities staff member, (1) one student center resident staff member, (1) one representative of Premier Foods – ex-officio and non-voting, (1) one member of Follett Bookstore – ex-officio and non-voting.

The Committee meets at least once per month to discuss issues related to the Student Center.   The committee develops an annual budget based on collected student center fees, to be approved by the Associated Student Government.  The committee also reviews and makes recommendations to the Associated Student Government and Student Services Council regarding policies and procedures, daily operations, remodeling, and the housing of appropriate services for students with the Student Center.
