  • Karen Grove's Home page.   Karen teaches at San Francisco State University and her site contains some interesting laboratory assignments concerning upwelling and El Niño.
  • University of Houston Field Trips. This page contains lots of interesting stuff, including some links to various geology field trips around the world.

For Earthquake information, try these sites:

  • U. S. Geological Survey.    This is the USGS listing of current earthquake information, for various areas of California and elsewhere.

For sites relating to El Niño, try these sites:

  • NOAA El Niño Theme Page   This is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Site.
  • El Niño Analysis   This page has some analysis of El Niño  and equatorial oceanic circulation and temperature data.

Tide information can be found here:

Volcano-related websites are here:

  • Volcano World This site, at University of North Dakota, is excellent, with lots of good, scientific information on the latest volcanic activity worldwide, with some nice photos.

For examples of contour maps, try these sites:

  • Sea Surface Temperature This page from the University of Wisconsin has current and archived sea surface temperature maps.
  • Weather Channel Map Index This page has current and recent maps of temperature, current weather conditions, including contoured barometric pressure, and many others.
  • NOAA El Niño Theme Page  This page has access to a number of useful maps of ocean temperature and elevation over the tropical Pacific.
  • Coastal Data Information Program This page includes access to maps which have contours of wave height in the Southern California and Central California regions.
