Statement

Being a woman, I have a fascination with the woman's body.  Most of my art shares a common theme stemming from this interest. Famous women icons such as Marilyn Monroe, as well as women from every day life and self-portraiture are subjects for study and artistic investigation.

I use vibrant colors and altered scale relationships to suggest vast differences and individual characteristics in women. I am interested in hidden ideas and thoughts not visually apparent. My artwork Rouge, appears to be a simple red ceramic sphere. The object is still and silent. If one lifts the artwork it will rattle from the movement of the object inside the sphere. I explore variations of private and public characteristics of women and I want to continue creating work to express both interior and exterior worlds of thought and physical qualities of women.

Bio

Moving around for eighteen years has taught me to adapt to a wide variety of schools, social groups and even cultures.  Art has been the only constant throughout these years.  My roots are in Oceanside, but I began the process of growing up in parts of Texas and Georgia.  My love and comfort with studio work led me to take every art class available in high school.  Prior to my graduation from Camden County High School, Kingsland, Georgia in 2004, I began expanding my knowledge of the history of art at Coastal Georgia Community College.  Due to lack of career opportunity in St. Mary's, Georgia, I moved back to Oceanside.  Currently I am working on my degree, and plan to transfer to California State University San Marcos.
