An obsessive-compulsive nature has led me to dedicate extended periods of time to varying thematic schemes and exploring different mediums. Initially interested in architecture, my artistic studies have moved decisively into the world of three-dimensional design where it is possible to produce work in the studio, as opposed to plan the work on paper. Currently I utilize found objects and a variety of media to create sculpture in response to memories and day-to-day experiences I do not understand. I pose questions and create poetic paths for the viewer. I have dedicated my life to art in order to investigate ambiguous and mysterious occurrences and observations in life as a means of creative _expression. I believe art is a dynamic language that can provide meaningful and educational experiences for both the maker and the viewer. |

As a child Tracy Norman was told that artists starved, failed, and were social outcasts. This misconception led her to believe that a career as an artist would not allow for the preparation, opportunities and fun of being a college graduate. Not until Tracy’s junior year in high school did she consider seriously studying visual arts. Struggling in school, feeling lost in the system, and at a breaking point she finally tore down the childhood misconception and moved in a direction of an intuitive truth to pursue art. Tracy’s AP Studio Art teacher pushed her to explore what she knew and didn’t know about art and art history, as well as to explore her personal and cultural identity in her work. At the time she appeared to be a real odd ball running around school burning canvases in the alley and maiming paintings with rusty nails. It was with such experimentation and freedom of _expression Tracy found a place in the chaos of life. Tracy continued to take every art class offered in high school, participated in a high school art program at Art Center in Pasadena and has continued the foundation studies of visual art at Mira Costa College.
The artist Tracy Norman states, "Each day, since choosing to make art, has been one of observance, narration, and dreaming. Within each day there is glory and there is pain. "
