Weber, NEW SPAIN'S FAR NORTHERN FRONTIER

A final grade for this course is derived from five Identification exams (each 20 points); three Lecture/textbook exams (each 20 points); one quiz on geography of the Southwest (10 points); U.S. Declaration of Independence and Constitution readings and writing assignment (30 points); additional class assignments such as videos, newspaper articles and live performances that pertain to Mexican American experiences (maximum of 30 points and be sure to consult with the instructor before each project); and 10 points for completing the course for a total of 240 points. No make-up exams are given. However, 15 bonus points can be earned with three or less absences starting with week two.

The grading scale is as follows:

240 - 216 = A 191 - 168 = C

215 - 192 = B 167 - 144 = D

In case the Instructor is replaced due to illness, the new Instructor can create his/her own grading system to complete the class.

Students are responsible for withdrawal dates. Those failing to drop before the 75% attendance date will receive a letter grade. Students requesting special grades such as Credit/No Credit must meet with the Instructor during the first ten days. Incompletes are given upon request. I expect regular attendance. Please note it is the responsibility of the student to withdraw. There is no Instructor-initiated withdrawal after the tenth day of classes.
