B.A.,University of Utah
M.A., San Diego State University
Born into a military family and married
to a bit of a wanderer, I've moved twenty-eight times in my life.
I attended high school in Hampton, Virginia, went to the University
of Utah, married, and have held jobs as diverse as receptionist at
a newspaper, paperback book buyer for a college in Minnesota, and
paralegal for a San Diego law firm. As a late bloomer, I attended
San Diego State University where I earned an MA in American Literature
and Rhetoric. After two years of part-time work at State, I was hired
at MiraCosta College full-time in the Letters Department in 1985.
During my free time, I enjoy traveling and have been to England, Lithuania,
many countries in Europe, Japan, Okinawa, and Australia. I am also
an avid reader, a Star Trek fan, a cat lover, and a chocoholic. I
teach all levels of English composition, American Studies, American
Literature, and Introduction to Literature. As a teacher, I like to
both challenge and nurture students, and to have serious fun in class.
