What is an Open Learning Coordinator anyway?
I manage a variety of services within Academic Information Services, including Web Services, Distance Education Services, Media Services, Technical Training, Help Desk Services, and Assistive Technologies.
I serve as the project manager for Content Management, Help Desk Systems, Technology Enhanced Classrooms (TEC), Campus Portal, Learning Management Systems, Web Application Development, Online Surveys, Podcasting, etc.
About Me
I arrived at MiraCosta in 2002 in the same position I hold here today. The position has evolved quite a bit since that time - mostly in the direction of web application development and systems integration. I also teach a variety of online courses, including Web Design, Intro to Spreadsheets, Intro to Databases, Internet Essentials, and Internet Commerce. Additionally, I am a doctoral student at Nova Southeastern University where I have completed my coursework in pursuit of a PhD in Computing in Education. My dissertation work is related to Virtual Communities of Practice, Social Networking, and Informal Learning; and I hope to be done in 2008.
