This course is an exploration of the physics of sound, sound recording, and sound reproduction.You will be working on class projects in a group of about five people.
Topics:
The recording chain, basic MIDI techniques, studio geography, and studio
organization and operation will be studied.
Materials
needed:
Each group must provide their own Mackie Hard Drive.
Additional
materials:Alesis ADAT Tape.DAT
Tape (available in music office), GIGKIT, to be discussed in class.
Grading:
Grades will be based on a class curve.Factors
will be attendance, participation, and a demonstrated knowledge of the
sound chain as shown through test results and in class preparations.

must attend regularly. In class discussion is vital to understand
studio procedures and operation.To
avoid a poor grade it is your responsibility to drop before the prescribed

will be evaluated through the performance and completion of assigned projects
in their group. Access to the studios will be granted upon the completion
of assigned projects only.
