Catherine House
Spanish Instructor
¡Bienvenidos!
HOLA. I have taught Spanish at MiraCosta
full-time since 1990 and started as a part-timer in 1984. I was also a
student at MiraCosta, returning to study Spanish after obtaining a B.A.
in English Literature from U.C.Davis. After studying at MiraCosta for three
years, I went to U.C.S.D. to get my M.A. and C.Ph. in Spanish Literature.
I first learned Spanish by watching "novelas" (soap operas) on the television.
For many years I took student groups to Mexico and to Santiago de Compostela,
Spain.
I love to travel to Mexico
and Spain. My oldest son is married to a Spaniard. They live in Madrid.
Both my sons are writers . My husband is also a writer. He and I are very
interested in contemporary Oaxacan painting. We often travel to Santa Fe,
New Mexico, to Mexico, and to Madrid, Spain.
