For classes having four (4) regularly scheduled exams, you have the option of not taking the Final Exam if you meet the following criteria.
- You have taken all four of the regularly scheduled exams, and
- You have scored at least 90% on each of these exams, and
- You do not want to take the Final Exam
If you meet these requirements, then you can exercise this option. However, none of your scores can be below 90%, it is not an average of your scores. To exercise this option, you must inform me of your decision prior to the scheduled time to take the Final Exam. If you do not tell me that you desire to exercise this option, and just do not take the Final Exam, you will be given a "0" (zero) for the Final Exam.
Your lowest regular exam score, the one which was dropped and not counted, will be counted as your score for your Final Exam. Since all of your scores were at least 90%, this is not a bad decision, since you are guaranteed having a Final Exam score over 90%. However, if you take the Final Exam, the score you get on the Final Exam will be counted, even if it is significantly lower than 90%.
The Final Exam option listed above is available only for classes which have had four regular exams. Students in classes with fewer exams cannot exercise this option.
