Dave Nydegger
Excited Students

Dave Nydegger graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. From there, he went on to earn a Masters in Business Administration from Inter-American University. David has been an Adjunct facility member of MiraCosta College since 1978. He currently teaches BUS 135, Personal Selling, on Tuesday evenings during the Fall semester, and BUS 138, Advertising & Promotion, on Tuesday evenings during  the Spring semester. 

Dave has resided in Oceanside for nearly his entire life, and is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce.

IMPORTANT NOTE on CLOSED Classes: All the online classes and many of the on-campus classes close quickly. You should register ASAP if you are interested in any class. If you change your mind, please drop the class immediately so others can enroll. If the class is closed, consider the Wait List procedures; be aware of the rules and the limitations. Otherwise, consider these options: 1) register for another section if available; 2) register for another class; 3) consider registering in a future semester; 4) show up for the first day of an on-campus class and discuss with the instructor; or 5) forget about it and move on. The instructor will not intervene with the wait list procedure.

Please be aware that, once a class reaches maximum enrollment and “closes,” on or after the first day of the semester, even if “available” spaces appear on SURF due to drops, it is within the instructor's complete discretion on whether to add more students at that time. Drops after the first day are normal attrition and are factored in when setting the maximum enrollment. The class has started and important assignments and subject matter have already been covered. Please do not email the instructor. Thank you for your understanding.

Teaching Philosophy/Style and Class Management/Activities

As an adjunct instructor of two courses, Advertising & Promotion and Personal Selling, I feel that "real world, hands on" experiences are excellent ways for students to learn new material in an interesting and enjoyable manner.  With over 30 year’s business experience in Advertising, News Paper Publishing, Marketing, Sales, and Sales Management, I like to bring real life case studies and experiences to the classroom. 

Students will learn presentation and sales, skills and techniques that they will be able to use in both their professional and personal lives. Students will learn to speak and think on their feet while developing marketing materials that could be used in their own business some day.

Although my regular employment does not provide me with the opportunity to be on campus as much as I would like, I welcome questions and discussion on business and course related matters thru phone or email.  However I expect students to assume full responsibility for assigned material, their learning and their grade.
